Project Kuiper’s Space Race Ignites €2.8 Billion Growth Surge Across Europe—3200 New Jobs Soon

Using more than 3,000 satellites, Amazon’s Project Kuiper is a massive endeavor to deliver dependable and fast internet globally. Compared to conventional satellites, these satellites will orbit closer to Earth because they will be in low Earth orbit.

A Mega Satellite Project Bringing Jobs and Growth

The primary objective of the project is to assist more individuals in gaining internet connection, particularly those who live in distant places.

To launch and build these satellites, Amazon is working with many companies in Europe. These companies are located in countries like France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Spain. The work they are doing is not just helping Amazon; it’s also creating thousands of jobs and adding billions of euros to the European economy.

A report by Oxford Economics, which studied the impact of Project Kuiper, shows that from 2022 to 2029, this project will bring €2.8 billion to Europe’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product). That’s the total value of goods and services added to the economy. It will also support over 3,200 jobs every year, with the highest number of jobs—over 6,600—expected in 2025. The governments in these countries will also receive over €790 million in tax revenues thanks to the project.

Overall, Amazon is expected to spend about 26% of its announced Kuiper investments in the European space sector. The company already employs over 150,000 people in Europe and invested more than €38 billion in 2024 alone. That investment helped create another 450,000 indirect jobs in areas like construction and logistics.\

Country by Country: How Kuiper Is Making a Difference

France

Project Kuiper will be most beneficial to France. Arianespace, one of the companies launching the satellites, is based in France. The work connected to Kuiper will add €1.38 billion to France’s economy by 2029. On average, 1,590 jobs will be supported each year in France, with the highest number being 3,070 in 2025. French tax authorities are also expected to collect €363.4 million from related business activities.

Germany

Germany is the second biggest winner. It is home to several sites that support the ArianeGroup, a company that plays a major role in launching the satellites. The work from Project Kuiper will add €808 million to Germany’s economy by 2029. About 1,010 jobs will be supported each year, peaking at 2,080 jobs in 2025. The German government is expected to earn €239.4 million in taxes from these activities.

Italy

Italy is involved in building parts of the Ariane 6 rocket, especially its strong carbon-fibre structures. A company near Rome is doing this work. Thanks to this project, Italy’s economy will grow by €117 million between 2022 and 2029. On average, 147 jobs will be supported each year, with a peak of 333 in 2025. Italy will also see €37.4 million added to government revenues through taxes.

Sweden

Beyond Gravity, which manufactures systems to retain and release satellites during launch, is based in Sweden. Because of Kuiper, this company built a new factory, which doubled its production capacity. Between 2022 and 2029, Sweden’s economy will gain €185.7 million. An average of 141 jobs will be supported each year, with 270 jobs at the peak in 2025. Sweden’s government will receive €57.5 million in tax revenue.

Spain

The Ariane 6 rockets are also being built in Spain. The rocket’s electrical systems and body components are being manufactured by companies close to Madrid. By 2029, Project Kuiper’s operations will boost Spain’s GDP by €84.6 million. About 100 jobs will be supported each year, peaking at 230 in 2025. Spain will collect €21.9 million in taxes during this period.

Big Contracts and Bigger Impacts

Project Kuiper is not just a high-tech mission to launch satellites; it is a powerful economic force in Europe. One of the most important parts of this project is that it involves major contracts with European companies—some of the biggest ever signed by them.

With its new Ariane 6 rocket, Arianespace will offer 18 rocket launches. There will be hundreds of Kuiper satellites launched into space by this rocket. Beyond Gravity, the Swedish company, is supplying satellite dispensers for all 80+ launches. These devices are crucial for placing the satellites into the correct orbit once the rockets reach space.

These business deals mean new factories, new machines, and new workers. For many companies, working with Amazon on Project Kuiper has opened doors that were not possible before. Companies are expanding, hiring more people, and making more advanced equipment.

Also, while most people think of internet satellites as something only tech experts care about, Project Kuiper is showing that space projects can help the everyday economy. By working with hundreds of companies across 13 EU countries, the project connects not only people around the globe but also boosts industries and jobs right here in Europe.

Groundbreaking Kuiper Launch Positions Amazon to Rival Starlink in Satellite Race

From manufacturing and logistics to rocket science and electronics, the project covers a wide range of work. It shows how space technology can support real-world jobs and bring steady income to thousands of workers.

Project Kuiper is doing more than launching satellites. It is driving economic activity across Europe, creating thousands of jobs, and adding billions to national economies. With its large-scale partnerships and factory expansions, the project is proving that space missions can have real, everyday benefits for workers and businesses across the European Union.
